The Department of Elementary Education and Literacy at Metropolitan State University invites applications for a one-year, category II faculty position to begin August 2016.
This position requires teaching the equivalent of 15 semester hours of courses (day, evening and/or weekend classes) with primary responsibility for teaching courses in elementary education.
Please note that this will be a one year appointment for the school year of 2016-2017
Teaching load may include: instructional methods, foundations, classroom management and/or assessment for teacher candidates in the Elementary Education licensure program. The candidate must have a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and school personnel in supervision of clinical experiences and/or student teachers. Furthermore, the candidate needs to have a desire to work with a diverse student body including, but not limited to, working adults and students of color to increase student retention and success.

Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, Teaching, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
Doctorate in Elementary Education or in an area of curriculum and/or instruction related to elementary education. Three years of elementary school teaching in grade K through 6 general classrooms. The preferred candidate has demonstrated effectiveness in teaching undergraduate methods courses, assessment, classroom management and instruction and/or demonstrated the ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups including outreach to and retention of students of color in educational settings.
