Directs Employment unit, reviews and develops the policies and procedures for hourly, salary and student employees. Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures, civil service rules and bargaining unit contracts. Determine the appropriateness of introducing diversity initiatives and consider the unique needs of the organization.
Direct supervision of employment unit staff; includes hourly and salary positions
Assist with the development of policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse work force for the organization.
Assist with training programs and events to educate employees and managers on how to recognize, accommodate and appreciate individual differences in alignment with the Miami University 2020 (strategic plan)
Identify and recommend best-practice on diversity programs; develops and maintains contact with others in the field (e.g., professional association and educational groups, and professional development efforts).
Lead and/or co-leads on-boarding and off-boarding programs
Develop and provide guidance to hiring department regarding advertisements, screening and interviewing, and reference checking.
Oversees criminal background check process.
Maintain the on-line position description and applicant tracking system, HireTouch.
Develops and conducts training programs for managers designed to improve recruiting and hiring efficiencies
Researches, analyzes, prepares and presents selection, hiring and retention statistics.
Maintains records on recruiting activities as required.
Participates in development of annual recruiting budget.
Schedules and attends job/career fairs with appropriate staff as a source to generate qualified applicants.
Directs the efforts of employment agencies and search firms including negotiating and controlling employment related fees.
Develops recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels.
Meets with managers to develop specific recruiting plans.
Develops and maintains professional relationships with college, university and community college placement offices as a source to generate qualified applicants.
Bachelor's degree and at least seven years of directly related experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations. Experience with Microsoft Office products, and at a minimum intermediate excel skills (pivot tables, formula functions etc.)
Masters degree in a related field. PHR, SPHR, or related Human Resources certification
