American International College is seeking an HR professional to fill the position of Human Resources Generalist. Under the general direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, this position will be responsible for the following:
Interpret and advise staff on human resources issues. Resolve issues as appropriate, and refer more complex issues to the assistant director of human resources for resolution. Interpret human resources policies, and provide advice on human resources processes and procedures.
Help coordinate and facilitate the recruitment process, working with the dean of education.
Provide advice on job postings, advertising, interview questions, and reference checking.
Coordinate faculty contracts for the school of education.
Manage or perform onboarding and exit process of staff, as needed.
Work with VP for HR and Dean of Education to develop HR orientation for the school of education.
Support project management including preparation of documents, and follow up on timelines and deliverable for project work. Attend project meetings, as needed. Participate on cross-functional teams.
Manage and/or perform HRIS data management activities.

Bachelor's degree required.
3-5 years of previous HR experience preferably in an institution of higher education
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience using email and Internet.
Thorough understanding of all federal, state and local laws regarding employment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Demonstrated experience applying and interpreting human resources policies and procedures.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion.
Ability to work independently, consistently follows through with projects and assignments, and meets deadlines.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated strong and effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
