The Residence Life Coordinator assists the Associate Dean Campus Life and Director, Residence Life with oversight of the Residence Hall staff. The Residence Life Coordinator will supervise and provide guidance, support, mentoring, and advice to the Residence Hall staff, and coordinate Housing & Residence Life (HRL) programs. The Residence Life Coordinator assists with enforcement of college policies, respond to crises, responsible for the direction and oversight of one or more student employees and all of the activities and services provided by them in the Office of Residence Life, and monitor and evaluate student employees on performance, daily assignments and the administration of required personnel paperwork. This position will maintain an efficient, collegial, and proactive work environment within the Office of Residence Life and collaborating department’s, advise Residence Hall staff by meeting regularly to discuss status reports, evaluations, disciplinary follow-up, programming, and other duties. This position will also ensure the professional and personal success of the Resident Advisors in their mentoring and policy enforcement roles within the residence halls, assist with Residence Hall staff (RHS) training throughout the year, participate in the Residence Life evaluation process and provide opportunity for feedback, growth, and input in the RHS job performances, and participate in the selection process for RHS and Sponsors.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred, and a Master’s degree is strongly preferred. A valid driver’s license is required. A minimum of 3 years of experience in higher education working with campus and residential life programs is preferred. Candidate must deploy professional skills in campus and residential life program management, in collaboration with colleagues to best promote the College’s strategic interests. Demonstrated effectiveness and clarity of verbal and written communication with excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills to supervise, facilitate, motivate and inspire a diverse group of student employees, volunteers and stakeholders from a wide variety of backgrounds. Candidate must handle all activities and highly confidential information with patience, discretion, tact, and a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate must be available for evening residence hall walk-through, meals, and/or meetings and events, and serve as On-Call Dean for after-hour physical and/or psychological emergencies (on a rotating basis), and meet weekly with On-Call Deans team to go over incidents and issues.
The regular hours for this full time position are at least 40 hours per week on a variable schedule. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required. Travel will be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
