Pomona College is seeking a Dance Coach & Instructor to teach ballroom and social dance. This position reports to the Director, Smith Campus Center. The successful candidate will teach courses each semester, including Bronze, Silver and Gold International Style Latin Dance, Bronze, Silver and Gold International Style Standard Dance and Beginning and Intermediate Social Dance. Direct The Claremont Colleges Ballroom Dance Company in nationally recognized competition. Produce original choreography, including partner, team/formation. Provide leadership and support to student officers and dancers of the dance company. Manage budget of the program by participating in fundraising activities and interacting with potential donors.
Qualifications include: Bachelor of Arts Degree or higher in Dance or equivalent is strongly preferred. Expansive knowledge of International Latin and International Standard Ballroom Dancing required. Knowledge of social dances including Lindy-hop, Salsa, and Blues, plus an understanding of costume and music production is required. Experience teaching at a collegiate level is also required.
The regular hours for this full time position are at least 40 hours per week on a variable schedule. Holiday, weekend and evening hours may be required. Travel will be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
