Under the direction of the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office Associate Director, and following federal student aid policies, the Gainful Employment Program Manager administers the Gainful Employment activities which include, preparing the annual report to be sent to the Department of Education, ensuring the accuracy of data and meeting all deadlines. Analyzes data provided by the Department of Education to determine if student information should be challenged. Creates the required Gainful Employment Disclosures on an annual basis and maintaining those records as new certificate programs are implemented at Utah Valley University. Develops Gainful Employment policies and procedures and adheres to all federal student aid policies and procedures. Completes daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly financial aid operational reports. Counsels students, parents, faculty, and staff with expert knowledge, training, and expertise regarding various financial aid matters. Reviews verification files to ensure all verification items are accurate. Evaluates student financial aid files and makes adjustments and recalculations when appropriate. Ensures a high standard of accuracy and compliance in awarding aid to students.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling five years.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Behavioral Science or related field preferred.
Knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to financial aid, including Gainful Employment, need analysis, eligibility assessment, packaging strategies, and satisfactory academic progress.
Knowledge of financial aid policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
Knowledge of Banner Financial Aid preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Superior organizational, multitasking, and problem resolution skills.
Skills in listening to customers (e.g. students, staff, management, etc.) and responding proactively to their requests.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, students, and parents in a professional manner.
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Ability to effectively provide expert knowledge, training, and expertise to students, faculty, and staff.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ability to gain and maintain access to federal student aid databases.
