This position is responsible to provide research, leadership, and outreach, in conjunction with existing talent and resources, to further elevate UA’s already strong stature in the arena of services marketing. The Culverhouse College of Commerce at the University of Alabama invites applications for the D. Paul Jones and Charlene Jones Compass Bank Endowed Chair in Services Marketing. This endowed chair is designed for an early to mid-career “rising star” academic researcher in the area of services marketing. This position is a tenure-track position in the Department of Marketing at the Associate Professor level effective as early as August 16, 2016.
Minimum qualifications: Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Marketing or a related field.
Preferred qualifications: Candidates must have an established record of ongoing and consistent publication in the top-tier marketing journals and a pipeline suggestive of ongoing productivity at that level. Moreover, preference will be given to candidates who (1) approach services marketing research from a behavioral perspective (i.e., an experimental consumer behavior-services approach), (2) will work with doctoral students and existing faculty to amplify existing research capabilities and output at the highest levels, (4) excel in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and (5) engage as appropriate in sponsored and corporate-funded research, and (6) leverage existing academic and industry connections to elevate UA’s position in the services arena.
Compensation package is competitive.

The Marketing Department at steady state consists of 24 full-time faculty (17 tenure-track and 7 clinical faculty). Faculty in Marketing are recognized nationally and internationally for their research in such areas as services, sales, international marketing, and supply chain. The marketing group is highly collegial, with research collaborations encouraged. Funding is available at both the college and department level to support ongoing research initiatives and the college boasts state of the art facilities to meet research and teaching needs.
