Detailed Job Description

The SGA Advisor is responsible for programmatic oversight, supervision of staff, and administering the operations of the Student Government Association (SGA).

Additional Department Summary:

The SGA Advisor also has the unique opportunity to advise the SGA president and other Executive, Legislative, and Judicial members, while supporting SGA's programs and events.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience; OR Master's degree and some experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Experience in advising student groups/organizations. The ability to work some nights and weekends.Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of Student Development Theory, ability to plan, direct and evaluate a complex operation by using available resources to accomplish both short and long-term goals of the institution, division, and Student Government. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills applicable for a diverse population. Demonstrated leader with the ability to work in a diverse team environment. Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs. Organizational skills, demonstrated problem-solving, ability to conduct presentations and training workshops, student programming, student leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Business /Management, or other related field and at least five (5) years of professional leadership experience in a higher education setting or a related field OR Master's degree in Education, Business Communication, Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling or a related field and three (3) years of professional leadership experience in a higher education setting.Mentoring experience, relationship building, developing sponsorships and partnerships for programs, advancement or alumni experience, staff supervision, and budget management experience. 58 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 37835.16 Midpoint - $ 54870.36
