DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and monitors assigned nursing skills activities for students.
Coordinates maintenance of the lab and equipment.
Provides input to the Director in development and enforcement of lab policies and procedures.
Provides input to the development of lab schedules.
Communicates with faculty verbally and in writing to provide timely feedback regarding students’ progress in the skills lab.
Assists with supply inventory and ordering.
Develops and maintains written and or visual materials needed for practicum.
Insures that test-out materials are in good order.
Provides lab materials to all sites to assure consistency among labs.
Attends course group meetings that pertain to the nursing skills labs
Anticipates and meets all customer needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Performs the duties of a preceptor as needed, including testing and circulating, and working directly with nursing students in the simulated lab to develop competency with skills, providing a bridge between classroom theory and skills application. Utilizes a variety of learning modalities in the lab including the Human Patient Simulator (HPS) with computerized scenarios, manikins and models, equipment and supplies for demonstration and return demonstration. Evaluates student performance with competency testing, practicum, and direct observation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
Active, unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse license
Current employment as a Preceptor I in Cuyahoga Community College Nursing Skills Lab for at least six (6) months
Demonstrated leadership ability
Willingness to accept challenging assignments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships
Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population.
Master of Science in Nursing
Experience working closely with a course coordinator in planning specific lab activities.
Must be available to work 20-25 hours per week with day, evening and weekend hours College-wide, as necessary to meet the needs of the lab.
