Under general direction, provides patient care; conducts physical exams; completes health history summary; documents patients’ progress; assists with patient care management.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing, Missouri RN license, and certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provides prompt care (evaluation and treatment) of patients presented in the Emergency Department setting: performs physical examinations and obtains accurate medical histories; reviews health records and assesses medical conditions; completes clinical resumes, progress notes and orders. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as delineated by medical privleges, including initiation of emergency stabilization. Instructs and counsels patients pertaining to their physical and mental health, including diets, social habits, medications and treatment of illness and follow up care. Communicates information to patient families and assists with communication to referring/consulting providers for Emergency Department patients.

Records, compiles and prepares reports and summaries on quality measures insuring patient follow-up and discrepancy reporting.

Education; at times is involved in teaching rotating NP students. Maintains working knowledge of department policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
