Under the direction of the Developmental Mathematics Department Chair, the Lecturer provides high quality teaching of developmental mathematics and potentially also quantitative reasoning courses, and is responsible for providing service and scholarship as required by the department.
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an appropriate degree in a related field to the coursework being taught. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Graduation from an accredited institution with an earned master’s degree in mathematics or a mathematics related field required.
Teaching experience in developmental mathematics required.
Knowledge and experience in teaching developmental mathematics.
Knowledge with statistical analysis.
Knowledge with educational measurement, program evaluation, and student learning outcomes assessment.
Effective interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to effectively teach developmental math students using a variety of instructional modes and acknowledged best practices in the discipline.
Ability to communicate both written and orally in English to a diverse group of students.
Ability to use effective, student-centered instructional strategies and techniques which include engaged learning, and a blend of traditional instruction and on-line learning.
Ability to manage, motivate and evaluate students.
