Job Description:

As part of a Social Innovation Fund Grant, Bunker Hill Community College is looking for a part time Higher Ed Liaison (18 hours per week) to collaborate with our Boston Coaching for Completion (BosC4C) partnership.  This partnership offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of partners: The Boston Foundation, Boston Private Industry Council, Freedom House, Hyde Square Task Force, Bottom Line, College Bound Dorchester and The Steppingstone Foundation to further campus-wide goals of retention and completion.

In collaboration with our Admissions and Enrollment staff, our new liaison will work with our partner organizations to assist recent Boston Public High School (BPS) graduates navigate the admissions, orientation and registration process to ensure a smooth transition to the College. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Assist Admissions and Enrollment Management with BPS student recruitment initiatives and ensure that BosC4C Success Coaches are invited to relevant recruitment activities of the College. 
  • Assist partner organizations to connect with BPS graduates admitted to the College who are in need of a BosC4C Success Coach. 
  • Assist BPS graduates who not being coached by BosC4C Success Coaches connect with appropriate College resources and personnel.
  • Serve as link between BHCC's Director of Advising and Life Map and the BosC4C Success Coaches; primary goal will be to coordinate the alignment of the BosC4C Success Coaches' activities with College policies and processes in order to support student success.
  • Serve at the main point of contact for functional activities such as facilities requests.
  • Maintain communication with the BosC4C Success Coaches in person, via email, and through regular meetings in order to monitor the Coaches' activities and to ensure alignment of College resources and goals.
  • Participate in onboarding and professional development of new and continuing BosC4C Success Coaches supporting students at BHCC.
  • Explore supporting campus resources and make appropriate referrals; serve as a liaison to other departments and community based agencies.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with the position, such as the collection, organization and dissemination of statistical data, logs, reports, forms and general correspondence.  Operate a computer and utilize databases, student information systems, word-processing and email; answer student inquiries regarding career coaching related matters via email and telephone. 
  • Assist grant coordinators with data collection and assessment.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred) in Education, Counseling, Psychology or a related field; with three (3) years' experience and/or training involving academic or  career counseling, career/vocational testing/assessment, referrals, employment services or career development transition; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience working with students in a student services/client services or equivalent setting.
  • Proficiency with technology as well as MS Word and Excel required.
  • Excellent, demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
  • Ability to work up to 2 evenings per week (11am ? 7pm) and some Saturdays required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in student information systems preferred.
