Duties & Responsibilities

The position reports directly to the Director of Nursing within the School of Health Sciences and the coordinator of the pre-nursing program. The individual is responsible for coordinating the CNA program including scheduling of students for clinical experience, teaching classes and clinical; supervising students in laboratory and skills testing; conducting pre and post-clinical conferences and evaluating student progress, supervising adjunct faculty; preparing written evaluations and meeting with students; coordinating with CNA lead instructor. Other duties will include participating in curriculum planning and revision; attending nursing faculty and School meetings and other college committees as appropriate. Position will maintain posted office hours, substitute when needed and perform other tasks as assigned by the Director.


A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required, with a commitment to complete a graduate degree in nursing (MSN) within 5 years from the date of hire. Must value diversity and have a multi-cultural perspective with high school and minority students and be highly motivated with a strong commitment to the community college philosophy. Individual must possess strong communication/clinical skills, be familiar with computerized activities/testing and be licensed as an RN by the NM Board of Nursing or be eligible for licensure. This individual will need to maintain documentation of current liability insurance for professional practice in the Department of Nursing. Membership and active participation in ANA and NMNA is strongly recommended.

Starting Salary

Commensurate with educational background and teaching experience according to placement on the San Juan College salary scale.
