Reporting to the Director of Prospect Research, the Senior Prospect Research Analyst is responsible for providing accurate, timely and relevant information for the potential fundraising cultivation, qualification and engagement of all Bentley University constituencies.
Bachelor’s degree required.
2-3 years of prospect research experience.
Fluency with a broad range of research techniques: internet research, searching of electronic databases, and the use of other appropriate sources and methods. Ability to effectively use available databases and public information to analyze complex financial information.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word) and ability to learn new programs and software.
Experience with relational donor database software. Abila Millennium experience a plus.
Impeccable attention to detail.
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Tact, discretion, diplomacy, and ability to deal with confidential information sensitively. Commitment to ethical research practices.
Ability to analyze, synthesize, and clearly report on a high volume of information. Ability to identify trends, make connections, and interpret patterns.
Ability to prioritize work and provide accurate information under tight deadlines.
Ability to self-motivate, to work independently, as well as part of a team.
Proven ability to research employment, affiliations, educational background, charitable giving, income, stock holdings, interests, and university connections of university alumni, parents, and friends, and to identify and qualify potential donor prospects.
Proven ability to conduct complex financial and biographical research using electronic databases, online search tools, and public documents to analyze and synthesize relevant information to determine wealth capacity ratings.
Proven ability to stay current on trends, tools available, and proactive research techniques.
Experience with Millennium or other donor database; experience working in a Higher Education environment.
