Under general supervision, coordinates billing functions to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and maximum financial return; ensures Medicare billing compliance; maintains knowledge of Medicare, billing codes, rules, and regulations; audits medical documents; serves as resource to faculty and staff.

High school diploma; supplemented with two (2) years of progressive professional billing experience.
Assesses, processes, codes, and tracks patient billings and reimbursements; captures and generates charges for inpatient and/or outpatient visits and procedures; reviews, edits, and posts payments to accounts with date of service; maintains knowledge base of correct coding practices and registration requirements; audits medical documents; and updates fee schedules.
Schedules patient appointments and tests as prescribed using computerized scheduling system; answers and screens calls; assists with patient registration; and verifies patients’ demographics, insurance, pre-certification status, and referral information.
Determines and collects payments; reconciles and deposits payments according to University policy; answers billing correspondence and maintains third party request database; assists patients and guarantors with billing and reimbursement issues; and follows-up with payment denials.
Provides in-services to physicians; trains new employees; serves as resource to faculty and staff; prepares reports; and opens and distributes mail.
Performs other duties as assigned.
