The position is responsible for the job placement of adult and graduate students in the College of Business and Public Management (CBPM). The position develops career opportunities and internships for current students and recent graduates. The person coordinates with other placement specialists in the College and the University of La Verne’s Career Services and Employer Relations Office to establish and maintain employer relations, contact employers, plan and manage career fairs, maintain the CBPM Career Development and Placement Services website, and to develop workshops to help students with mentorships, resume writing, cover letters, interviewing skills, and job search strategies. The individual will meet students individually and assist them in getting a position pre- and/or post-graduation. Compile maintain and input salary and employment data into centralized employment database to generate placement statistics.
A.Be the primary contact and support for adult and graduate students enrolled in the CBPM programs for career development and placement purposes. Identify, cultivate, and source internship and job opportunities for CBPM adult, graduate and recent graduates; place current and recent graduates in internships and jobs. Maintain a database reflecting job search progress, including counseling notes, and placement status of matriculating students and recent graduates in CBPM programs. Create regular follow-up mechanisms to maintain current job search status of student and recent graduates of CBPM programs. Track the placement of all CBPM Students and graduates with starting salary information, title of position, name and contact information of employers, and input this information into campus wide centralized databank for reporting purposes. In addition to paid employment, input information regarding self employment, volunteer work, service oriented positions, and/or enrollment in advanced degree programs, identifying the type of degree being sought and the institution on where advanced degree is being earned. 35%
B.Provide individual career counseling, including resume review, cover letter review, interview preparation, job search skills, and direct job application guidance, to CBPM adult and graduate and recent graduates. 20%
C.In coordination with the other CBPM Career Development and Placement Specialists, La Verne Corporate Recruiters, University Advancement, and the Career Services and Employer Relations Office, establish and maintain employer relations for the purpose of providing internship opportunities and job placement ford CBPM students and recent graduates. Maintain a database of employers. 15%
D.In coordination with the other CBPM Career Development and Placement Specialists and the University of La Verne’s Career Services and Employer Relations Office, plan and deliver a series of workshops during the academic year to enhance student internship and job placement success. These workshops should cover, but not be limited to, issues relating to resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing skills, and conducting strategic job searches. 10%
E.In coordination with the other CBPM Career Development and Placement Specialists and the University of La Verne’s Career Services and Employer Relations Office, plane and manage the logistics, coordination, and administration of two job fairs per academic year. 5%
F.In coordination with the other CBPM Career Development and Placement Specialists and the University of La Verne’s Career Services and Employer Relations Office, develop and maintain a website for the CBPM Career Development and Placement Center. 5%
G. Develop and maintain student resume books, publish position announcements in centralized career databank, and in coordination with the Office of Institutional Research, CBPM Assessment Analyst, and the University of La Verne’s Career Services and Employer Relations Office, conduct employment related surveys of recent CBPM graduates. 5%
H.Reach out to CBPM students to ensure that the students are aware of the Center and to coordinate with the faculty of these classes the development of skills needed for CBPM Students to be successfully placed upon graduation. 3%

Master’s degree in management and/or administration is desirable
Three years of internship coordination and job placement experience or career counseling is desired. Other work experience in an HR capacity may be acceptable.
