Detailed Job Description

Under the direction of the Head Coach - Men's Soccer, the Associate Coach is resonsible for providing technical expertise in the fundamentals of the sport, teaching student-athletes basic and advanced skills, assisting in management of the team through recruiting, program development, fund-raising, promotional activities and related assigned reponsibilities. Evaluate athletes' strengths and weaknesses both in practices and in games. The Associate Coach guides and mentors student-athletes throughout the academic year.
Responsibilities:
-Assists in monitoring team members' eligibility according to requirements set by the University, NCAA and Conference.
-Teaches and maintains the effective skill level of the Men's Soccer Team. Set up equipment and go over drills and strategies that will be utilized during practice.
-Recruits student athletes that will represent the program in a positive way. Scouts future opponents. Prepares scouting reports and helps formulate game plans.
-Promotes Booster orgaizations for effective relations and financial support, as well as school spirit and loyalty. Assists head coach in fundraising and soccer program resource development.
-Assists head coach, athletic director and other department staff in maintaining an effective program. Ability to plan and execute soccer camps.
-Upholds and abides by all NCAA regulations and UVU policies and procedures.
-Perform other job related duties as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree and one year of coaching experience; OR graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree and three years of coaching experience or any combination of education and experience related to the essential duties totaling seven years.

Knowledge:
-Knowledge of team organization, motiviation and strategic skills
-Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic rules and regulations and ability to uphold and abide by all NCAA regulations and UVU policies and procedures
Skills:
-Interpersonal, problem solving and decision making
Abilities:
-Ability to scout, recruit and coach intercollegiate Men's Soccer players
-Ability to assist in design and strategies of game plans and coordinate game and practice schedules
-Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a wide audience
-Ability to instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate student course work and classroom performance
