Collaborates with advisors, Career Development Center, and Assistant Dean to initiate and aid students in developing accurate educational choices, career goals and develop the skills needed to network and interview. Able to accommodate the needs of students and recognize appropriate actions to take to aid in success.
Counsels students in the development of self-knowledge related to career choice and work performance by identifying, assessing, and understanding tier competencies, interests, values and personal characteristics.
Assists students in obtaining occupational information to aid career and educational planning; to develop career path; and to select personally suitable academic programs and experiential opportunities that optimize future educational and employment options.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field of study or a combination of education and experience totaling four years.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience related to summary of duties totaling six years.
Knowledge of career development theories, models, and techniques as they apply to life-long development, gender, age and ethnic background.
Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise.
Knowledge of student development
Knowledge of various business industries
Knowledge of and understanding of networking organizations
Knowledge of how to develop networks and career goals
Skills in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Skills to create, compose, and edit written materials.
Skills in developing, planning, and implementing short and long-range goals.
Ability to represent the office internally and externally in a professional manner.
Ability to assess objectives and operational requirements and to develop and implement suitable operational policies and/or procedures.
Ability to assess and interpret individual client needs and to make appropriate referrals to internal or external sources.
