Frostburg State University, Department of Student & Community Involvement, seeks applications for a full-time, exempt Events Management Coordinator position to begin summer 2016. The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for clients requesting use of campus facilities for events. Salary commensurate with experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Lane University Center, the Events Management Coordinator acts as the liaison between external/internal clients who are holding events and various campus departments. Assumes primary responsibility for maintaining and utilizing EMS campus event scheduling software. Communicates university and departmental policy to groups seeking to reserve space in Lane University Center and other campus venues. Consults with academic and administrative offices as well as student groups to advise, plan, and implement events; coordinates with technical services, housekeeping, catering, campus police, conferences and events, and marketing to ensure that all aspects of events run effectively. Provides the primary customer service interface for Lane University Center; recruits, trains, and supervises student customer service specialists. Coordinates an assessment effort to ensure that client expectations are being fulfilled. Attends events to ensure that all needs are met. Also assists with major departmental initiatives, building operations, and other related duties as assigned. Overall, the purpose of this position is to centralize essential reservations functions and maintain an efficient reservation and event management process.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Business, Communications, or related area. One or two years of experience in student union operations, student activities, or other experience with event planning. Some knowledge of event scheduling software such as EMS. Demonstrated ability to deal with clients and provide extraordinary customer service. Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, and adaptability. Valid non-commercial driver’s license. Must be available to work nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Business, Communications, or related area. Three or more years of experience working in student union operations or student activities at the graduate assistant or professional level. Proficiency with EMS event scheduling software.
Other: Any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and progressively responsible related work experience may be considered.
