FULL-TIME SENIOR FINANCIAL AID COUNSELOR: (Enrollment Services) 37.5 hours per week, Monday 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, Tuesday through Thursday: 9:30 am to 5:30pm (late night subject to change) Friday 9am to 5pm, this position requires some Saturdays and late evenings during peak enrollment periods. (MCCC/MTA Unit Position, Grant Funded position). The potential candidate will be working on the Lawrence Campus in the Career Planning and Advising Center (CPAC) and will work the other members of CPAC and the Financial Aid Team in Haverhill.
The Sr. FA Counselor advises students on financial aid eligibility requirements, application processes, costs, and indebtedness. Evaluates documentation provided by students; performs verification and conflicting data resolution as needed; exercises professional judgment, assists with counseling and processing financial aid appeals, special circumstances and dependency overrides. Notifies students of changes in their awards and offers alternatives to amend the situation if applicable; presents financial aid workshops to students, parents and the college community. Duties will also include guiding prospective students through the admissions process; registering new and continuing students; advise and help all students develop and track individual academic plans utilizing DegreeWorks program (training will be provided).
At least Five years’ experience working as a Financial Aid Counselor and a Master’s Degree is required. Solid knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations/ programs is essential. Must be self-motivated; have the ability to problem solve; be able to communicate effectively with students, staff and the community, and have a commitment to customer service. In addition, the applicant must be able to work in fast pace team enviroment, have the ability to handle several complex assignments simultaneously, and have strong time management skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required, and SCT Banner Student Information Systems experience is preferred. Experience working in community college is preferred. Strong preference for bi-lingual/bi-cultural (Spanish/English) candidate in order to best serve the needs of the college’s Hispanic/Latino population on the Lawrence Campus.
Salary: Anticipated salary range is $45,940.00 - $66,613.00 annually with complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system; Pay grade #4
