The Staff Engineer at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, works with the engineering team to provide technical, operational and engineering support in the campus’s world­class recording and performance facilities. The ideal candidate for this position is adept in working in an educational environment, in and/or outside of the classroom, and oriented towards engaging and guiding students in their professional development and achieving their academic goals. The person in this position is a model of professionalism for the campus and reports to the Chief Engineer of the Valencia campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide audio recording, editing and mixing services within a state­of­the­art music recording and post­production facility, where the main console is the Avid/Euphonix System 5.

  • Work with Chief Engineer to perform regular and ongoing routine technical maintenance and repairs to audio/visual systems in the studios, technology labs and rehearsal facilities.

  • Participate in large­scale installations and upgrades such as console replacements, major platform upgrades, and bringing new facilities on­line.

  • Provide audio mixing, recording and technical support for live events which include a large range of acoustic and electric instrumentation.

  • Teach courses at the graduate and/or undergraduate level and complete all duties expected of faculty with regards to the classes taught.

  • Maintain an overall high level of professional “real world” standards as they pertain to practices and work ethic within studio operations.

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining fair and effective policies and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of the studio facilities.

  • Provide input on purchasing decisions for the recording facilities based on industry expertise, experience and professional connections.

  • Other duties as assigned.
