The Associate Director of Alumni Relations, Alumni Career Services and Education, will work collaboratively as well as independently to promote and advance alumni relations with the university in regards to communication, fund-raising, volunteerism, campus involvement, and education. The position reports directly to the Director of Alumni Engagement.

The ideal candidate will be energetic and innovative, and will play a critical role in delivering programming and leadership to support Miami’s efforts related to Alumni Career Education & Development (ACED). As directed by Miami University’s 2020 Plan, Alumni Career Education & Development will provide robust educational opportunities and career support, as well as dynamic online content for alumni around the globe.

This person will have excellent communication skills and be able to handle multiple projects. She or he will have the ability to work with varied personalities and work styles. He or she will have many opportunities to collaborate with talented people and build relationships both across campus and within the division of University Advancement.


  • Coordinate and supervise all career services and related programs for alumni, including career and educational programming, in collaboration with the Assistant Director, Alumni Career Education & Development.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, both academic and non-academic, to create meaningful opportunities for alumni to engage with students. To include fostering alumni classroom participation, as well as establishing alumni-sponsored career and internship pathways.
  • Implement professional development programming, both in-person and web-based, including seminars, lectures, webinars, workshops and more designed to promote the career success of Miami alumni.
  • Engage in strategic long-range planning and program development to meet and anticipate the professional and career needs of alumni.
  • Plan and manage Alumni Career Education & Development marketing & communication, including but not limited to ACED webpages, the Miami University Alumni Association LinkedIn group, relevant social media and print collateral, and innovative marketing solutions.
  • Provide career advising in both 1:1 and group settings.
  • Build and maintain successful partnerships and administer contracts with commercial vendors of alumni career services
  • Build, monitor, and evaluate network of career advising partner(s) for referral of alumni as appropriate
  • Provide ongoing ACED outcome measurement and usage reports. Track data to measure impact of ACED initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with alumni and/or mid-career adults
  • Organized, task-oriented with demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various groups, volunteers, and campus partners.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (20 – 40%) and availability to work on weekends and/or extended hours as necessary.
  • Strong communicator with excellent written, verbal, and social media skills. Will have an eye on the current digital environment and an interest in or experience with social media marketing trends.
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Knowledge of Miami University.
  • Experience in a non-profit or higher educational setting.
  • Experience leading a student and/or young alumni program.
  • Strong presentation skills and/or demonstrated training experience
  • toward such a goal.
