The Dean is responsible for academic and administrative, strategic planning, budgeting, implementation of college and university policies, recruitment, evaluation, development, promotion and retention of a high quality faculty/staff.
The Dean is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to innovation in teaching and research, academic program review and the successful pursuit of ACBSP accreditation.
The Dean will have responsibility for increasing the College’s financial resources through major gift procurement, fundraising and development activities, administration of sponsored programs including externally funded grants and contracts, administration of off-campus academic programs and relationships with the college’s professional advisory board.
The Dean must demonstrate a commitment to students’ success. Experience with on-line course design, development and implementation; understanding of globalization as an integral aspect of Business education; and securing and implementing internship programs as part of curriculum; will be invaluable assets to this position.
He/she should demonstrate a history of scholarly research including refereed articles, and funded grants suitable for appointment as a tenured full professor. It is expected that the successful candidate will increase the profile of business programs at Central State University. Additionally, he or she will possess effective interpersonal skills; a collaborative management of leadership style in a collective bargaining environment, and strong fiduciary and budget management skills.
The Dean will work collaboratively with the Deans Council and members of the President’s cabinet to achieve the goals and objectives of the University. The Dean is responsible for aligning college activity with the mission and values of the University.
The College of Business is composed of 9 degree programs and two academic departments: Department of Business Administration and the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics. The degree programs in Business Administration include: Entrepreneurship, Hospitality Management, International Business, Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing. The degree programs in Accounting, Finance and Economics include: Accounting, Business Administration Finance option and Economics.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates for the Dean of the College of Business must meet the following criteria: an earned doctorate or equivalent from an accredited university in business or related discipline and the qualifications commensurate with the rank of professor within a discipline appropriate to the college. The candidate should have progressive administrative experience with minimum of five (5) years experience at the level of department chair.
