Job Summary

The Department of World Languages and Literature at Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time, two-year non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor or Lecturer position in the Chinese language with an anticipated start date of fall semester, 2016. The successful candidate's responsibilities include teaching at all levels of the Chinese language. Teaching obligations include six courses over the academic year, of which five courses are expected to be Chinese language, and one course in the candidate's area of specialization. Strong commitment to excellence in language teaching and devotion to serving undergraduate students in a language program are essential.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Chinese language and literature or related fields, and have at least three years experience in teaching Chinese at all levels at an American college or university. Qualified candidates must have native or near-native command of Mandarin Chinese and English, with strong oral and written communication skills in both languages including writing in Traditional and Simplified characters.
