Under general supervision, performs secretarial duties, which include work requiring knowledge of specialized medical/scientific terminology such as surgery and test scheduling; performs general secretarial duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma; supplemented with two (2) years secretarial experience which includes one (1) year using medical/scientific terminology.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinates and schedules outpatient visits for patients; schedules surgeries with the Operating Room staff, including use of special equipment and instructions from physicians; coordinates events with patients and scheduling office; and coordinates pre-operative testing and admission process with patients.

Obtains all required insurance pre-certification or authorizations for the surgery; documents all data in EPIC.

Assures records are received for consultations; maintains open communication with clinic staff regarding physicians’ absences; and completes paperwork presented by patients.

Performs standard administrative duties such as answering phones, maintaining physicians’ calendars, scheduling meetings, and creating letters and miscellaneous documents. Also enters all surgeries in the American College of Surgery website tracking system.

Performs other duties as assigned
