Detailed Job Description

Under administrative direction, is responsible for external operations of the department; delivers, directs and implements the strategic plan for marketing, promotions, group sales, media relations, community outreach and student spirit groups. This individual will report to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for the strategic direction, oversight, coordination, leadership and active participation in revenue generation and external functions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics

Knowledge of Division I NCAA rules and regulations
Working knowledge of athletic marketing and fundraising
Knowledge of broadcasting and production sales
Knowledge of television and radio agreements and terminology
Knowledge of game and special event management
Supervisory skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Maintain knowledge of departmental activities, sports schedules and procedures.
Support the athletic department goals and philosophies as described by the Director of Athletics and works to achieve and uphold the department’s key objectives and core values.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; supplemented with three (3) – five (5) years related experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provides leadership and supervision for the department’s external operations including marketing, promotions and media relations.

Provides direction and supervision for staff to plan, create, execute and be responsible for promotional activities, in-game assets, video board content the overall in-game environment and provide increased fan interaction resulting in an enhanced in-game experience.

Develops and manages the external vision for the department via radio, print, video, website, television and social media platforms working closely with media relations, university marketing and communications and key stakeholders.

Works collaboratively with ticket operations, development, facility and event management staff on athletic and alumni events to increase event attendance, ticketing revenue, and exposure for Billiken Athletics.

Coordinates with ticket operations to develop and implement plan to meet all ticket revenue goals, including individual, season and group ticket sales.

Assists with sponsorship fulfillment responsibilities related to Billiken Sports Properties (Learfield Property) and other third-party agreements; maintain knowledge of the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Atlantic 10 Conference, and Saint Louis University.

Performs other duties as assigned.
