Job Description:

 BHCC seeks a versatile and motivated technical/functional Business Analyst/programmer with Ellucian (Datatel) Colleague experience to perform professional duties related to the review, assessment, development and operation of technology based business processes in the Student Financial Services office. This office includes both Financial Aid and Student Accounts business operations. Focus is on those operations requiring technological capabilities and support for Colleague and other related third-party services, as well as providing training and creating and maintaining user documentation. Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Financial Services, and working closely with the Information Technology Department, the Business Analyst will also support functionality online self-services, portal and other technological resources that promote fluid financial office processes.

  • Manage and support all Student Payment Office and Financial Aid processes and technological systems development, implementation and maintenance.
  • Provide focused support of Colleague Reporting & Operational Analytics (CROA) by developing reports, extracts and interfaces.
  • Provide focused support of ImageNow, electronic document processing and all related interfaces.
  • Work closely with the College IT department in technology solutions and integration for other department specific business functions using third-party software or services.
  • Understand basic Colleague component architecture relationship with data (table structures) and integration points between modules.
  • Understand available Colleague functionality. Advise on solutions while working closely with IT staff to understand impact on overall system.
  • In consultation with managers and end users, evaluate and recommend software solutions while establishing and maintaining third-party vendor relationships.
  • Provide end user instruction, support and troubleshooting to implement systems and to resolve application issues.
  • Maintain current understanding of all relevant software and hardware, including necessary data interfaces.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and training materials.


  • Bachelor's Degree or programming experience
  • 5+ years of applications systems development experience
  • Experience with an integrated database system such as Ellucian Colleague or Banner, PeopleSoft or other Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) or Student information System (SIS)
  • Experience successfully integrating technology
  • Development experience with Unidata or SQL
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in computer science or equivalent area of study
  • Familiarity with SharePoint helpful
  • SQL preferred

Salary Range:  $85,000 - $90,000
