Under the direct supervision of the Department Chair of History & Political Science, teaches five large section (75 – 140+ student cap) courses per semester in United States History. Participates collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the department and the college, its staff and student body. Supports and seeks always to fulfill the guiding concepts for the college embodied in the philosophy, mission, values and vision adopted by the University.
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an appropriate degree in a related field to the coursework being taught. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a graduate degree in U.S. History – specialty open. Ph.D. required. Demonstrated successful teaching large section classes (140+ students) in American History at the college or university level.
Knowledge and skills in current instructional theory, methods, strategies and techniques.
Knowledge of student management, motivation and evaluation techniques.
Skills in interpersonal relationships, problem solving and decision-making.
Skills in applying multimedia hardware/software in classroom teaching.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work independently.
