Assists in the implementation, testing, management and repair of electronic fire alarm and security systems throughout the College system including Electronic Access Control, Security Surveillance Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Dispatch Systems, and Fire Alarm Systems
Performs systems maintenance and programming on all access control systems present at all College properties
Maintains electronic database records, encodes key cards, and programs electronic locking systems using related computer software
Oversees and monitors contractors and equipment installations
Reviews and approves architectural door and portal schedules in order to develop keying/coring configurations in advance of construction deadlines and/or relocking schedules
Processes and records work orders pertaining to various electronic protection systems
Coordinates preventative and corrective maintenance for all security and fire safety systems and devices
Ensures the College’s security and fire safety levels are maintained along with critical operating and strategic issues
Ensures campus operations are in compliance with applicable building and fire codes as well as College insurance carrier requirements
Contributes in the establishment and successful execution of schedules supporting critical construction and start up milestones for College projects that the Police and Security Services Group supports
Maintains required documentation
Coordinates with College operations in areas of cross responsibility such as sprinkler and other fire suppression systems
Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in security and/or fire safety systems
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Skilled in the ability to survey for lock requirements
Possess extensive working knowledge of access control related equipment including but not limited electronic/mechanical locks, computer operated key cabinets, programming of access control systems, security surveillance equipment (both hard wired and remote), intrusion as well as fire alarms and CCTV systems
Possess or is able to quickly develop working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of cylindrical, mortise, and rim locks; mechanical, electrical and electronic locking devices (These may include the following technologies; magnetic stripes, keypads, smart chips, proximity card readers and biometric identification systems)
Possess working knowledge with fire code requirements relating to building access/egress control devices
Demonstrated knowledge of crime prevention
Knowledge of OSHA Industrial standards/requirements
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated general computer proficiency
Sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Associates Degree/Technical Degree in a related discipline
Five years of progressively responsible experience in security and/or fire safety systems (AMAG
Prior job experience with Best Access Systems A2 and A4 series locks, codes and equipment
Certificate in Crime Prevention (CPTED)
ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) Certification
Previous experience programming electronic based fire alarm and security systems
The work schedule is based on normal college work hours; however, hours will vary based on business unit needs and emergency situations.
