Detailed Job Description

Under general supervision, provides clinical office support to ensure patient satisfaction; schedules appointments, greets patients, and prepares charts; performs registration and check-in/out functions; verifies insurance benefits; assists with patient exams, tests, and procedures; maintains various records and databases of information; prepares correspondence, billing, and reports.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; supplemented with two (2) years of related work experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Performs check-in and check-out functions; collects and posts co-pays; schedules appointments; obtains or provides referrals for specialty visits; researches and resolves referral issues; verifies insurance benefits; monitors and updates EPIC referral queue/in-basket; and prepares correspondence.

Answers phone and responds to inquiries; refers, routes, or places calls; generates telephone encounters in electronic medical record system and routes to appropriate skill set/provider; verifies insurance information; places patient follow-up calls; and serves as receptionist, greeting and assisting visitors, patients, etc.

Rooms patients and obtains vital signs; assists with procedures; documents in the electronic health record; gives injections, draws blood, collects urine, and performs point of care testing; inspects exam rooms for cleanliness and restocks supplies; maintains sample medication closet; and orders medications, injections, and other medical supplies.

Schedules surgeries and/or tests; and obtains authorization/pre-certification.

Attends in-services and staff meetings; interacts with clinical students; obtains and issues referrals; opens mail; maintains clean and neat work areas; and performs other duties as assigned.
