Detailed Job Description

The College of Business of Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking one or more variable-time Lecturers to teach courses within its online business and administration undergraduate degree completion program. These are term, non-tenure-track appointments that are contingent on final budget approval. Experience teaching the specific courses listed above is preferred. Individuals must provide evidence of high quality teaching. Employment is for the Fall 2016 semester with possible employment for ensuing semesters, contingent on performance, programmatic need and budget availability. Our needs are in the area of Introduction to Finance and Small Business Financing. These courses are described below:

  1. Introduction to Finance - Undergraduate level, 3-credit hour course. Study of issuance, distribution, and purchase of financial claims including the topics of financial management, financial markets, and financial investments.
  2. Small Business Financing - Undergraduate level, 3-credit hour course. Financing problems involved in raising venture capital, debt type funds, expansion funds, and government-sponsored funding. Budgeting, working capital management, and fixed asset planning are covered.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Finance, Ph.D. preferred, at the effective date of employment of 8/16/2016. Applicants must have teaching experience in an online delivery platform at an AACSB-accredited institution at effective date of employment.

Successful candidates will be required to travel to Carbondale, Illinois, during the spring or summer of 2016 and stay for an approximate three-week period, at their own expense, to record lectures for the upcoming Fall 2016 semester. All course development must be completed by July 1, 2016.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
