American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3500 graduate and undergraduate students.   • Terminal Degree Curriculum and Instruction, Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education.
  • Recent (within five years) in PK-12 Schools (teacher, supervisor, director) in the respective content area.
  • Evidence of quality university teaching experience appropriate to rank.
  • Current Massachusetts (MA) License or be eligible to attain MA license in the content area.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and school-based personnel, especially in PK-12 Settings
  • A commitment to working in an interdisciplinary teaching and learning environment.
  • Strong commitment to high-quality instruction in a diverse, student-centered environment and the ability to work with students with various learning styles and backgrounds.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Blackboard, and the instructional use of technology to teach traditional, hybrid or on-line courses, as needed.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty.
  • Expertise that complements and expands that of the department.

  • Essential Functions

    Under the direction of the Interim Dean, School of Education, the individual in this position will be responsible for: * Teaching 12 hours in the fall and spring. * Be available to meet with students, as needed, before or after class time or at other scheduled times throughout the week. If virtual courses, establish virtual hours where faculty are on line for "meeting with students." Producing scholarly research related to emphasis areas; conduct and seek external funding to support scholarly activities; (e) cultivating school and community partnerships; * Develop a course syllabus and lectures, in alignment with college mission, professional standards (DESE) and SPA (Specialty Area Standards). Attend all departmental and/or School of Education meetings. * Serve on college and departmental committees as requested.
