Detailed Job Description
The Director of Development will provide leadership to develop a major gift culture and thriving major gift program at the Anne Arundel Community College Foundation (AACCF). The Director of Development is responsible for managing AACCF's fundraising program to achieve annual fundraising goals, raising funds from a portfolio of donors, and supervising several members of the fundraising team. The Director of Development works closely with the Executive Director to continually improve the productivity of the organization and to develop a staff team that is well-aligned, donor-centric, goal-driven, data-driven and provides donors with the highest possible return on their investment in AACCF and Anne Arundel Community College (AACC).
Bachelor's degree required. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and/or Master's preferred.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible development experience, to include a minimum of three years of leadership and supervisory experience managing multiple direct-reports in a setting that regularly measures individual and team performance in fundraising.
Experience managing a major gift or capital campaign; proven solicitation experience, closing and stewarding major gifts. Experience in managing annual fund and planned giving fundraising and facilitating prospect research/prospect management functions in a manner that increases team productivity.
Demonstrated knowledge of institutional advancement (fund raising techniques; relationship management; matching institutional needs and priorities with interests of donors; communicating needs in the form of a compelling case; and working with faculty, staff, students, and alumni).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) required; proficiency with donor software (Raiser's Edge) preferred.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the College and Foundation.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to make public presentations.
Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills, including the ability to anticipate needs and issues.
Ability to work well in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities and with attention to accuracy, details and deadlines.
Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, faculty, administrators, representatives of the business community, alumni, community resources and the public.
