Detailed Job Description

The Student Life Specialist is responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of a comprehensive, campus-wide activities program. In addition the Student Life Specialist will coordinate the leadership development program for student leaders. The Student Life Specialist will act on behalf of the Coordinator of Student Life in her absence.  

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Student Personnel, Counseling or related field required.

Minimum of two years of experience in managing college activities and advising student groups required. Experience includes internships and graduate assistantships.

Experience in developing and facilitating leadership workshops and programs.

Experience in developing and implementing multicultural and diversity programming

Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet applications. Experience in graphic and web design strongly desirable.

Ability to interact effectively and plan programs for a diverse population, including traditional and non-traditional students, faculty, staff and community members.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends to accommodate the needs of the program.

Demonstrated understanding and commitment of the value of student activities in the life of a comprehensive community college.  

Preferred Qualifications

Community college experience.
