The Senior Research Specialist position is in a laboratory within the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine.
The Senior Research Specialist will work on an NIH funded multi-center, multi-disciplinary, multi-investigator project that is focused on curing HIV-1 infection under direct supervision of the laboratory manager. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, cell isolation's, advanced toxicity evaluations, and ex vivo evaluations of cells from patients. The incumbent must be able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and possess excellent communication skills.
In this regard, the incumbent is expected to analyze data, prepare reports and present results to the entire research team on a monthly basis. The incumbent may also have to coordinate and oversee projects both with personnel at the University of Pittsburgh and at other institutions.
They will also be responsible for purchasing laboratory supplies, keeping track of supplies inventories, and equipment maintenance related to cell culture.

A Master's degree is preferred. Will substitute combination of education and experience. A background in virology and/or molecular biology through course work or experience is preferred. Good Managerial skills.
