Detailed Job Description

The Biological Safety Officer is responsible for providing technical and regulatory oversight related to biological safety.

Additional Department Summary:

This position will work in close collaboration with the Institutional Biosafety Committee, Office for Research Compliance, Office of Environmental Health & Safety, and researchers, this position provides guidance for the safe conduct of biological research, regulatory compliance, and efficient maintenance of the Biosafety Program. The Biological Safety Officer reports to the Vice President for Research and Economic Development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications/Licenses: Advanced certification in biosafety, such as Registered Biological Safety Professional (RBP) or Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP) preferred. Certification by the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) is preferred. MS degree in microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, industrial hygiene, chemistry, environmental science, or related field. Based on Qualifications
