Detailed Job Description

Plans and directs all activates required in energy and utilities for successful operations of the campus and all other buildings. Responsible for electric, natural gas, water and sewer. Designs and implements metering and data accusation system at the building level to evaluate and analyze energy usage. Manages energy usage & cost information for reporting to State agencies. Plans program to reduce costs through conservation and additional efficiencies. Provides professional direction to electrical and HVAC operators. Manages line location requests: GIS and maps, in coordination with the Utah Bluestakes program. Serves as project manager in a variety of construction projects and will be assigned more complex energy projects. Position involves maintaining close relationships with 3rd party utility’s, municipal and State governmental stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation with a bachelor’s from an accredited institution in a related academic discipline plus one year of professional experience in project management or a combination of education and experience totaling five years.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years’ experience in electric and natural gas utility operations. Experience with rates & tariffs, building automation, lighting and HVAC equipment.


Understands the delivery, and management of gas and electric utilities.

Understands traditional building and campus utility infrastructure including cooling, heating, geothermal heat exchange, lighting and building automation, and renewable energy.


Skills in reading and understanding utility meters.

Skills in reading and understanding construction drawings and plans.

Skills in creating detailed spreadsheets.

Skills in calculating energy, BTU usage and project ROI proposals.


Ability to Work with local and state utilities and energy groups.

Ability to coordinate with UVU personnel to located, mark and log utility locations.

Ability to manage energy construction projects.

Ability to create a energy and Utilities plan for UVU.

Pay Range

$43,811 to $58,414
