Position Description:

With the Associate Director of Communications, Berklee Online’s Marketing Automation Specialist manages the online school’s day-to-day use of our marketing automation platform, Marketo. We’re already doing exciting things using this powerful tool, and we’re looking for someone to help grow and optimize our use of the software and push us to the next level of marketing excellence.

This position is highly involved in multiple aspects of marketing, communications, and lead lifecycle management, from lead generation/acquisition (landing pages) and nurturing (automated Engagement Programs and one-time blast emails) through application, enrollment, student success, and beyond.

A strong background in email marketing, marketing automation administration, and lead generation/optimization is desired, ideally within Marketo. Experience within higher education, the music industry, or a B2C-oriented environment is preferable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the day-to-day Marketo power user for Berklee Online
  • Hands-on development and execution of marketing campaigns in Marketo, including Smart List building, email templates and creative, landing page and form creation, testing, analytics, and more
  • Drive and manage email process and best practice: content, messaging, segmentation, and list management for maximum revenue and profitability
  • Develop content marketing assets with in-house creative team
  • Contribute to the overall marketing automation and communications strategy, maintained by the Associate Director of Communications
  • Work closely with our Salesforce Administrator to maintain and optimize integrations between Marketo and our CRM — and brainstorm new ways to use both systems
  • Collaborate and share best practices with Marketo users across the college, including the Boston Office of Admissions, Summer Programs, and Berklee Valencia.

Required Skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities, projects, and resources
  • Must be able to provide online portfolio, email templates, or other work samples demonstrating relevant marketing automation experience related to: email marketing, inbound and outbound marketing campaigns, lead lifecycle management, and/or nurture/engagement programs
  • Proven ability to work & lead effectively in a highly diverse campus community.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years of marketing experience, with at least one year of hands-on work with a marketing automation platform (ideally Marketo)
  • Marketo Certified Expert (MCE) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or equivalent is required
  • Musical training or industry experience is a plus
