Within the Department of Mathematics, the Assistant Professor teaches students in a variety of learning environments with activities that provide opportunities for students to achieve course learning objectives; participates collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the department and college; and supports the guiding principles of the university embodied in UVU’s mission.
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a PhD in Statistics or related field required, ABD accepted.
Excellence in teaching required.
Evidence of research/scholarly activities required.
Statistical consulting experience preferred.
Actuarial coursework or experience preferred.
Knowledge of teaching through implementation of appropriate pedagogy, clear presentation and preparation.
Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Demonstrates the skills to evaluate student performance.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and publish and/or present scholarly research.
Ability to use online learning tools and mechanisms.
Ability to develop, coordinate, manage and foster teamwork among diverse education and training programs.
Ability to function effectively on a variety of committees and assignments that serve the needs of the University.
Ability to interact personally with students and other faculty members in a congenial and productive manner.
