Using a developmental advising model, the academic coordinator will provide comprehensive academic support to freshmen, pre-major and undeclared students, and will provide advising support in major and minor selection, course selection, as well as college success strategies. The academic coordinator will design and deliver academic success workshops available to all students, and will teach a college success course for students at risk of not persisting to degree completion.
The academic coordinator will also collaborate with staff, faculty and academic coordinators across campus, and will function as a liaison to the Carson College of Business. This position is a primary advisor for pre major students intending to earn a degree in Business Administration. As an active team member of the Student Resource Center and Student Affairs, this position will coordinate the use of the Success Navigator risk assessment tool, develop and assess a communication plan to reach out to vulnerable students, and distribute assessment results. This is a temporary position expected to end on March 31, 2018. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Master’s degree in a related field.
Experience working with non-traditionally aged and first generation college students, and diverse and underrepresented populations.
Demonstrated experience in providing student and customer service.
Demonstrated communication skills.
