Global health and community health focus

 

The Doctor of Physical Therapy Division (DPT) at Duke University seeks to recruit a physical therapist with specific expertise in global health and community health to join our expanding faculty.  This dynamic and engaging individual will join a progressive group of faculty who educate learners using an innovative Team-Based Learning (TBL) curriculum. Qualified applicants must have an earned doctoral degree, and be eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in North Carolina.  Responsibilities will include instructional effort in courses for which the candidate is qualified, and participation in an aggressive expansion of the DPTs global health and community health research, service and educational agenda. Opportunity exists to collaborate with other local, national and global partners, along with professions and clinicians in education, research and clinical practice within the Duke University Health Systems (DUHS).

In addition to having a degree in physical therapy and an earned doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent), the search committee seeks applicants from a diverse pool of candidates with the following additional qualifications or attributes:

  1. Masters in Public Health (MPH),
  2. Experience in, and a commitment to, excellence in teaching and mentoring physical therapist learners,
  3. Experience working with diverse patient populations,
  4. Strong interest in joining a collaborative faculty implementing a Team-based Learning (TBL) curriculum,
  5. Clinical and research experience in global health and community based settings, and
  6. Progressive history of scholarly output and contributions in the area of global health and community health.

 

The position is a 12-month appointment with salary and rank commensurate with qualification and experience.  Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to prepare a 5-year plan that outlines educational, research and services milestones.  Please send a cover letter and curriculum vitae by May 1, 2016 including contact information for three references by email to:
