Job Summary

The Assistant/Associate Director of the Skidmore Fund works to develop and promote a culture of lifelong giving to Skidmore among key constituents of the College. The individual is responsible for managing annual fund strategies and results (dollar and donors) for up to 20 individual classes, including reunion classes. Primary responsibilities include setting goals, recruiting, training and managing volunteers, and managing class solicitation communications. This position also oversees the overall reunion giving program which includes developing and implementing a program plan, mentoring colleagues about best practices in reunion giving, and data analysis to maximize program results. Additionally, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing philanthropic relationships with an assigned group of alumni and volunteers; identifying capacity, interest and inclination, educating and cultivating these individuals, soliciting gifts, and stewarding donors and volunteers appropriately.

The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, embrace the essence of creativity and the Skidmore brand, "Creative Thought Matters," understand the importance of detail, and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate good decision making, with a commitment to flexibility and working in a team environment, and possess a sense of humor and a valid driver's license. Frequent travel to interact with volunteers and prospects as well as periodic night and weekend commitments. An offer of employment is contingent on a background check and the ability to meet the requirements of the College's motor vehicle policy.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree  

Preferred Qualifications

3-5 years' experience in Advancement or related field. In addition, demonstrated success working with volunteers, developing philanthropic relationships, and/or project management.
