Under the general direction of the AVP CIO/ Information Technology manages the portfolio of IT projects for the university. Manages, Instruct, directs, and reviews project management work for all of IT. Mentors IT project managers through all project phases. Highly skilled in business process analysis and significantly contributes to business efficiency through expert business process re-engineering. Research project management methodologies and techniques for continual process improvement. Has sufficient technical knowledge and experience with applications systems analysis, design, programming, testing, documentation, and implementation.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
Preferred Qualifications: PMI Project Management Certification (PMP or PMI-ACP), may be obtained within the first six months of employment.
Knowledge of both Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies.
Knowledge of all phases of systems design, programming, testing, implementing and documenting.
Knowledge of Business Process Analysis.
Knowledge of web-based systems programming, architecture, design and delivery.
Knowledge of Banner SIS.
Knowledge of relational database design, normalization, and integrity constrains.
Skills in scoping, requirement and deliverable identification, communication, scheduling, monitoring and controlling, and closing projects of all sizes.
Skills in Structured Query Language (SQL) programming and syntax.
Strong customer focus, can come up with unique solutions to satisfy customer requirements. Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
Excellent planner and organizer with the ability to delegate.
Ability to manage and motivate people for optimum results.
Ability to instruct, guide, monitor, coach and communicate with peers on the best approaches to project management.
Ability to re-engineer business processes and provide alternate solutions.
Ability to work with and be comfortable around senior management.
Ability to plan and follow through.
