Detailed Job Description

The Assistant Director of the WOW Program assists in leading the operations of a residential facility for the care, education and counseling of adjudicated juvenile delinquent girls who have mental illness diagnoses.

Additional Department Summary:

The Working on Womanhood (WOW) Program housed in the Girls Intensive Education and Treatment Facility is a 16-bed program that is administered by the Youth Services Institute through a management agreement with the Alabama Department of Youth Services. This position will participate as a member of the management team, assisting in the interviewing, hiring, and training of employees. He or she will share on-site and on-call responsibilities with the Program Director. This person will share in the supervisory responsibilities of health care, direct care, clinical and education staff in the administration of treatment, education, and recreation programming. He or she will monitor safety and security procedures for the facility. This employee will serve as the program volunteer coordinator by recruiting, scheduling and monitoring volunteers.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's and five (5) years of experience; OR Master's and three (3) years of experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

The Assistant Director will be required to attain and maintain medication certification and control tactics certification. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related field and five years of professional experience for adult correctional, juvenile correctional, juvenile mental health or forensic mental health clientele or a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related field and 10 years of professional experience for adult correctional, juvenile correctional, juvenile mental health or forensic mental health clientele. Professional experience working in a residential facility is preferred. 60 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 50918.40 Midpoint - $ 73839.96
