Detailed Job Description
The position is responsible for performing custodial duties primarily during the night shift within all college buildings. Providing assistance with supervising, training, and scheduling of the custodial staff. The incumbent serve as the acting supervisor in the absence of the Supervisor of Custodians. This position is designated as Essential Personnel. The incumbent is required to assist in meeting the operational needs of the College during emergencies and college closures, as well as, ensure continuity of strategic services.
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of four years of progressively responsible custodial experience.
Demonstrated supervisory experience or successful completion of a supervisory training program. Must be flexible regarding work location, hours, shifts and duties with the ability to respond when needed.
Demonstrated ability to use heavy industrial equipment such as buffers and auto scrubbers. Must be able to use mops, brooms, and vacuums. Move furniture and to use cleaning chemicals with or without reasonable accommodations.
Must have a valid Maryland driver's license and a good driving record when performance of
other duties require the operation of any college-owned vehicle or motorized equipment.
Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, throughout an 8 hours shift.
Must have the ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8 hour shift.
Must be able to work outdoors in varied weather conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and slippery conditions.
Proven record of attendance and reliability.
Effective oral and electronic communication skills.
