Job Summary

The Department of Chemistry at Skidmore College invites applications from qualified individuals for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in biochemistry beginning Fall 2016. While appointment will be made for a one-year period, we anticipate searching for a tenure track position in biochemistry during the fall of 2016, for which the successful candidate may be eligible. Skidmore is a highly selective, liberal arts college located in Saratoga Springs, New York with a student population of 2,400, 21% of whom are students of color. The College is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the growing diversity and excellence of the academic community. Prior teaching experience is desirable, and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring a diverse population of students is essential.

A Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a related field is required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach general chemistry and biochemistry. Opportunity may be available to conduct research with undergraduate collaborators. Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a related field, or Chemistry with an expertise in Biochemistry is required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach general chemistry and biochemistry.  

Preferred Qualifications

Prior teaching experience and/or post-doctoral research. Experience mentoring a diverse student population.
