Teaches courses in mathematics, elementary math education and introductory statistics courses as assigned. Maintains a positive and productive classroom environment. Plans, prepares and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials as necessary. Engages in scholarly activities and produces scholarly work. Provides service to the department, college and university, serving on committees and accepting other service appointments. Attends meetings and maintains regular office hours. Evaluates student performance using appropriate testing and grading procedures.
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited institution in mathematics is required (ABD accepted). Ability to teach courses in mathematics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Evidence of student-centered teaching as demonstrated by teaching evaluations. Demonstrated scholarly research potential as evidence by professional publications, presentations, or dissemination of scholarship through other venues.
Must maintain scholastic currency and activity within mathematical specialty.
Must demonstrate excellence in teaching through implementation of appropriate pedagogy, clear presentation and thorough preparation.
Must be able to evaluate student performance effectively through appropriate methods of testing student comprehension.
Ability to interact personally with students and other faculty members in a congenial and productive manner.
Must be able to function effectively on a variety of committees and assignments that serve the needs of the university.
