The Assistant Director of First Year Experience and Parent Programs is responsible for developing, overseeing and implementing programs and services for students and parents which assist in the University's retention efforts. With particular focus on first-year students and parents, this position will be responsible for researching current trends and assessing programs to ensure a smooth academic and social transition. The Assistant Director will develop appropriate and timely resources for parents and students working with various faculty and offices on campus to implement a seamless transition.

Additional Department Summary:

The Assistant Director for First Year Experience (FYE) and Parent Programs will be responsible for Parent Orientation, parent communication and education, and assessment while overseeing family weekend and all parent related items within the office. In addition, the Assistant Director will lead the planning, development, and execution of the Peer Leader program. The person in this position will need to evaluate current programs and provide recommendations for new programs and initiatives to serve parents and families.Parent Orientation hosts more than 7,500 family members each summer by collaborating with faculty and staff across campus and this position is responsible for the planning and execution of this program including the day-to-day operation of the program during the summer. This position will oversee the recruitment, selection and training of a team of 20 Parent Ambassadors who serve as orientation leaders for parents and family members with assistance from the Coordinator of FYE & Parent Programs. Parent communication includes monthly e-newsletters, social media, and the parent email notification program. Parent education currently involves webinars on various topics and will continue to develop under leadership from this position.This position is responsible for providing programs and services within specific budgets associated with Parent Orientation and Family Weekend. Budgets are self generated income from program registration fees. This position will supervise 1 graduate assistant and report directly to the Director of FYE & Parent Programs.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree and some experience in Student Affairs, Orientation, First Year Experience or related field.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Valid U.S. driver's license required. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent written and oral communication, professionalism, the ability to serve various populations and manage multiple tasks. Ability to form strong relationships and manage a large program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Higher Education or Student Affairs. Supervisory experience of both undergraduate and graduate students preferred. 58 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 37835.16 Midpoint - $ 54870.36
