Miami University invites applications for the position of Associate General Counsel. The Associate General Counsel reports directly to the General Counsel and must work independently on a wide range of complex and novel topics. The position requires unimpeachable integrity, ability to work in a fast-paced legal environment and abundant good humor.

The Associate General Counsel is expected to work collaboratively within the University community in a respectful, efficient and proactive manner. The Associate General Counsel must be able to communicate with internal and external audiences to represent the University's position in a clear and positive manner.
A Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Five or more years of progressive responsibility and experience practicing law in a firm, in-house, or University/College setting
Demonstrated strong client- service perspective
Strong legal research abilities, advocacy and problem solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Admitted and in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court and Federal Bar (for the Southern District of Ohio), or ability to gain admission within 1 year
Strong candidates will have:
Experience with college/university issues
Ability to act independently, take initiative and exercise sound judgment
Experience with regulatory and compliance matters
Ability to resolve issues through negotiation
Ability to manage multiple, on-going and complex matters
Significant experience in any of the following: Intellectual property law; general business law; general litigation; public construction law
