The HR Business Partner (HRBP) supports Quinnipiac’s mission to maximize employee performance and create a mutually rewarding and productive work environment. This role supports both academic and staff departments in a complex and fast growing environment for our North Haven campus, which includes the Schools of Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, and Education, plus staff functions.

Qualified applicants will support specific client areas and provide complete range of HR consultative services in the areas of Employee Relations, Performance Management, Change Management, Rewards and Talent Management.

Provide advice and solutions to management in all aspects of employee relations and other human resource issues; ensures compliance with University, clerical union and governmental regulations.

Support University wide goals and initiatives at the departmental level including performance management, leadership development, diversity and succession planning. Collaborate and work cross functionally with HR Team Members (Compensation and Benefits, Payroll, HRIS, Talent Acquisition/Recruitment, Training); and keeps informed of all major initiatives within client groups such as: organizational restructuring, staffing changes, employee movement (transfers, promotions, and demotions), and turnover concerns.

As a change champion, help articulate and facilitate change process within client groups; and clearly explain and support the larger mission, vision and goals while minimizing employee dissatisfaction and resistance to change. Facilitate management of performance issues.

Accountable for the human resource operational administration for the lifecycle of the employee for on-boarding, off boarding, and all transactional issues in between.

Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation, ensuring consistent, fair application of policies to the entire community. Facilitate job evaluation and compensation assessment as needed.

Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants:

The successful candidate will have:

Five to eight years of HR Generalist experience that encompasses expertise in employee relations, succession planning, talent assessment and development, employee benefits and programs.

The qualified candidate will have demonstrated that they can build the relationships required to be an advocate for employees and partner closely with departmental managers and senior leaders to enable the execution of new and existing strategies and initiatives to accommodate change and growth in the University. Exceptional communication and consultative skills; ability to successfully influence and navigate all levels in the organization.

Demonstrated strategic, critical, analytical and innovative thinking skills. 

An ability and desire to collaborate with HR colleagues to problem solve.

Solid understanding of state and federal employment laws. Experience leading and executing projects and new initiatives, including change management. Human Resources experience in a challenging work environment; experience working in a health care or medically focused organization is a plus. An undergraduate degree is desired, or equivalent relevant work experience; advanced training/credentials such as SPHR or PHR, or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
